Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and energetic Transaction Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing and reconciling financial transactions, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and maintaining accurate financial records. Your expertise will support the organization’s financial integrity, facilitate smooth month-end closings, and contribute to strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate is proactive, highly organized, and possesses a strong foundation in accounting principles and financial software systems.
Responsibilities
- Process and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and ledger postings with precision and timeliness.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable functions, including invoice processing, payment scheduling, and collections.
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliations to verify the accuracy of financial data across various accounts.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities by preparing necessary reports and documentation.
- Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or Workday to maintain accurate records and generate financial reports.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act), and other regulatory standards.
- Assist with internal audits, data analysis using Excel spreadsheets, and internal control procedures to safeguard confidential information.
Requirements
- Proven experience in accounting or finance roles with a strong understanding of corporate accounting practices.
- Familiarity with accounting systems such as SAP, PeopleSoft, Ceridian, ADP, Kronos, UltiPro, or equivalent financial software platforms.
- Knowledge of technical accounting concepts including journal entries, debits & credits, account analysis, and general ledger reconciliation.
- Experience working with payroll management systems like Paychex or ADP is a plus.
- Strong numeracy skills with proficiency in Excel data analysis, spreadsheets, and 10-key typing.
- Ability to handle confidential information responsibly while demonstrating excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational skills coupled with customer service orientation to support internal teams effectively.
- Relevant certifications or coursework in governmental accounting, nonprofit accounting or tax experience are advantageous.
