Boys Program Director
Reports To: RTA Owners
Position Overview
The RTA Boys Program Director is responsible for leading the day-to-day basketball and operational success of the boys' program within their assigned area. This individual oversees coaches, player development, team operations, scheduling, communication, and program growth while ensuring that every athlete and family has a first-class experience with RTA Basketball.
The Program Director serves as the face of RTA in their community by building relationships with players, parents, coaches, and local basketball programs. The ideal candidate is an experienced basketball coach, trainer, or educator with strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Access to a gym and the ability to organize practices and events is highly preferred.
This position is ideal for a high school or middle school coach, trainer, or basketball professional looking to build a successful basketball program while earning additional income and making a positive impact on youth basketball in their community.
Having consistent access to a gym for your team’s practices will be an important factor in the hiring process. Securing a reliable practice facility is highly recommended and will play a significant role in the success and overall operation of our programs.
Primary Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Operations
- Oversee all basketball operations for the assigned RTA program.
- Coordinate season schedules, practice plans, tournaments, leagues, camps, clinics, and special events.
- Ensure every practice, game, and team event is properly staffed with qualified coaches.
- Fill in or arrange coaching coverage when necessary.
- Attend and evaluate practices regularly, providing mentorship and feedback to coaches.
- Help maintain consistent coaching standards and player development across all teams.
Coach Development
- Recruit, interview, and recommend qualified coaches.
- Assist with onboarding, training, and placement of coaches on appropriate teams.
- Conduct regular evaluations and provide constructive feedback to improve coaching performance.
- Organize and lead coach development meetings and educational opportunities throughout the year.
Communication
- Maintain accurate practice and game schedules through RTA communication platforms.
- Ensure timely communication with coaches, players, and families regarding schedules, updates, and program information.
- Attend all scheduled leadership meetings and conference calls.
- Lead bi-weekly meetings with coaching staff to discuss program updates, expectations, and player development.
Player & Parent Experience
- Foster a positive, professional, and family-oriented environment.
- Build strong relationships with players and families through consistent communication and leadership.
- Address parent, player, and coach concerns professionally while working collaboratively with RTA leadership to resolve conflicts.
- Promote a culture centered around accountability, sportsmanship, and player development.
Camps & Clinics
- Plan, organize, and supervise RTA camps, clinics, and skill development events.
- Ensure all events meet RTA standards for organization, instruction, and customer experience.
- Recruit and schedule qualified staff for all developmental events.
Business Development & Community Outreach
- Support the continued growth of the RTA Basketball program within the local community.
- Develop relationships with area schools, coaches, trainers, and youth organizations.
- Attend local basketball events to increase RTA's visibility and build meaningful connections.
- Assist with grassroots recruiting efforts and player evaluations.
- Manage and contribute to local RTA social media content while maintaining brand standards.
- Help execute marketing initiatives that increase player enrollment and community engagement.
Qualifications
Preferred candidates will possess:
- High school, middle school, AAU, or collegiate coaching experience.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Passion for youth player development and mentorship.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple teams, coaches, and schedules.
- Access to gym space for practices is strongly preferred.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends during the basketball season.
- Having access to gym space for practice.

- Achieving 80% or higher positive customer satisfaction through parent and player surveys.
- Ensuring 100% of practices, games, camps, and clinics are properly staffed and organized.
- Demonstrating measurable coach development through evaluations and retention.
- Achieving 10% or greater year-over-year program growth in player participation.
- Maintaining high standards of communication, professionalism, and operational excellence throughout the season.
