The Aerospace Buyer at Airside MRO will be responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing aircraft components, tooling, consumables, and outside services to support repair station operations. This role will work closely with Operations, Inventory, Quality, and Customer Support teams to ensure material availability, cost efficiency, and compliance with aviation industry standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in aerospace purchasing, supplier management, and inventory coordination within an aviation or MRO environment.
Your role will take you to new heights, as you will be tasked with these essential job responsibilities:
- Source and procure aircraft components, raw materials, consumables, tooling, and repair services to support operational requirements.
- Obtain and evaluate vendor quotations based on pricing, lead time, quality, and regulatory compliance.
- Issue purchase orders and monitor open orders to ensure on-time delivery and accurate fulfillment.
- Develop and maintain relationships with approved suppliers, repair stations, and distributors.
- Coordinate with Operations and Production teams to prioritize urgent material requirements and minimize downtime.
- Review certification documentation and ensure purchased materials meet FAA, OEM, customer, and company requirements.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and ERP system transactions (AvSight experience preferred).
- Support inventory control efforts through cycle counts, reconciliation activities, and material planning.
- Assist with vendor performance tracking and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work with Quality and Compliance teams to support audits and maintain documentation requirements.
- Assist the Inventory Stores Clerk with receiving, stocking, issuing, kitting, and general inventory support activities as necessary.
- Collaborate with Purchasing, Operations, Inventory, and Customer Support departments to ensure efficient material flow and operational support.
To succeed in this role, you will need to have:
· High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Aviation Management, Logistics, or a related field preferred.
· Minimum of 3–5 years of purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or materials management experience within the aviation, aerospace, or MRO industry.
· Strong knowledge of aircraft components, repair processes, material traceability, FAA regulations, and aviation industry requirements.
· Working knowledge of MRO operations, inventory control, material planning, and supply chain best practices.
· Experience utilizing ERP/MRP systems; AvSight experience is highly preferred.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
· Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate suppliers, pricing, lead times, and purchasing opportunities.
· Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects, manage competing deadlines, and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
· Exceptional attention to detail with a strong commitment to accuracy, documentation, and regulatory compliance.
· Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, maintenance manuals, illustrated parts catalogs (IPC), and other technical documentation.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships with internal stakeholders, customers, suppliers, and repair vendors.
· Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across Purchasing, Sales, Product Line, Warehouse, Quality, and Operations teams.
· Strong customer service mindset with a proactive approach to resolving issues and supporting business objectives.
· Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and assist with warehouse, inventory, or material handling activities as business needs require.
