RF ANTENNA ENGINEER
Chatsworth, CA | Full-Time, Exempt | Compensation: $120,000 – $140,000 annually, DOE
Do You Love Solving RF Puzzles?
If you get a kick out of watching a simulation match a bench measurement — or troubleshooting why it doesn't — we want to talk to you. If you're the person who can't walk past a spectrum analyzer without wanting to know what's on it, this role is built for you.
As an RF Antenna Engineer at Sensor Systems, you'll simulate, build, and test antennas spanning VHF through Ku-band, working shoulder-to-shoulder with electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and drafters to solve real problems on hardware that ends up on real aircraft. You'll see your designs go from a model on your screen to a chamber test to a part on a wing.
What You'll Get to Do
- Simulate antenna performance across VHF to Ku-band using CST or HFSS — and then prove your models right (or wrong) on the bench.
- Run hands-on testing and verification of antenna designs in our anechoic chambers.
- Partner directly with Production to chase down ATP failures and solve real troubleshooting problems — the kind that don't have a textbook answer.
- Work alongside a small, senior team of RF, electrical, and mechanical engineers where your input actually shapes the design.
- Take on new challenges as they come up — this team doesn't do repetitive work, and no two weeks look the same.
What You Bring
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field.
- 1–3 years of experience in the RF industry.
- Hands-on design and test experience with antennas, or with passive RF components/subsystems (combiners, splitters, isolators, attenuators, etc.).
- Solid grasp of antenna design theory, behavior, and fundamentals.
- Working familiarity with EM simulation tools (ANSYS HFSS or CST).
- Theoretical and practical knowledge of RF/microwave passive components.
- Comfort with RF/microwave lab test equipment — network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, noise figure meters, and similar.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Excellent organization and the ability to juggle multiple concurrent priorities against firm deadlines.
- Comfort working independently and collaborating across all levels of staff and management.
- Sharp attention to detail, and a track record of reliability.
Schedule
Onsite 100% Monday–Thursday, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM (compressed 4-day/10-hour workweek under SSI's adopted Alternative Workweek Schedule).
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
This role involves regular time in a lab and anechoic chamber environment, including standing for extended periods, moving and positioning test equipment and antenna hardware (up to approximately 25 lbs.), and working in enclosed chamber spaces. Reasonable accommodations are available to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this role.
