Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Master Level Clinical Intern to join our dynamic mental health team. This paid internship offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in clinical counseling, assessment, and treatment planning across diverse populations. As a Master Level Clinical Intern, you will work under the supervision of licensed clinicians to provide evidence-based mental health services, including psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and group therapy. Your role will be instrumental in supporting individuals and families through personalized care while developing your professional skills in a fast-paced, supportive environment committed to excellence and innovation.
Duties
- Assist in conducting comprehensive mental health assessments and diagnostic evaluations utilizing ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding standards.
- Support the development and implementation of individualized treatment plans aligned with clinical documentation standards.
- Provide direct support through individual, group, and family therapy sessions focusing on child & youth therapy, trauma-focused therapy, grief counseling, and behavioral therapy.
- Engage in crisis management and intervention strategies for clients experiencing acute mental health or behavioral crises.
- Document all clinical interactions accurately within Electronic Medical Records (EMR/EHR) systems following HIPAA regulations and clinical ethical guidelines.
- Participate in research activities related to clinical practices, treatment outcomes, and evidence-based interventions.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate case management, patient care plans, and social work services for clients with co-occurring disorders or developmental disabilities.
Requirements
- Enrollment in a Master’s program in Clinical Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field with completion of coursework relevant to psychotherapy and clinical assessment.
- Prior experience or training in psychotherapy modalities such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, or applied behavior analysis (ABA).
- Knowledge of ICD coding systems (ICD-9/ICD-10) for diagnostic evaluation documentation.
- Familiarity with telehealth platforms and experience providing telehealth therapy sessions preferred.
- Strong understanding of crisis intervention techniques, trauma-informed care, and behavior management strategies.
- Excellent communication skills for client engagement, documentation accuracy, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA standards and adhere to clinical ethical guidelines.
- Experience working with children, adolescents, individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder (ASD), Geriatrics, or pediatrics is highly desirable.
- Competency in medical terminology related to mental health assessments and patient care is a plus.
