Must be willing and able to travel throughout the state of Tennessee for projects.
Most work will be based in Middle Tennessee, but projects may be located anywhere in Tennessee and may occasionally require overnight or multi-day travel.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise commercial painting crews of approximately 4–8 painters
- Plan daily work and assign crew responsibilities
- Maintain production schedules and labor-hour goals
- Ensure high-quality workmanship and minimize callbacks
- Coordinate with general contractors, superintendents, customers, and other trades
- Track daily crew hours and job progress
- Manage paint, materials, equipment, and jobsite organization
- Perform and supervise surface preparation, brushing, rolling, and spraying
- Operate airless spray equipment
- Oversee punch-list completion
- Enforce company and jobsite safety requirements
- Provide management with daily progress and issue updates
- Travel to projects throughout Tennessee as required
Skills
- Proven experience managing commercial painting projects within the construction industry with a strong understanding of construction safety regulations including OSHA standards.
- Proficiency in construction management software such as ProCore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, HeavyBid or equivalent tools for scheduling and project tracking.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and construction schedules accurately; skilled in blueprint reading and construction drawing review.
- Excellent crew management skills with experience supervising teams in a fast-paced environment; strong managerial communication abilities.
- Knowledge of federal and local construction regulations related to safety, quality control, and environmental compliance.
- Familiarity with managing contracts, budgeting processes, and project scheduling to ensure timely completion within financial targets.
- Hands-on experience with construction site operations including pipeline management for materials delivery and supervision of safety practices on-site.
Ideal Candidate
- 5+ years of commercial painting experience preferred
- Previous experience leading a commercial painting crew strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of commercial painting production methods
- Experienced with airless sprayers
- Comfortable working from ladders, scaffolding, boom lifts, and scissor lifts
- Able to read project plans, specifications, and scopes of work
- Strong understanding of surface preparation and coating systems
- Able to communicate professionally with customers and GC superintendents
- Reliable transportation and dependable attendance
- Willing to travel statewide for commercial projects
- Comfortable with occasional overnight stays when project locations require them
A Major Plus
Experience with any of the following is especially valuable:
- Military installation or federal construction projects
- Davis-Bacon / prevailing-wage projects
- OSHA commercial construction requirements
- Large commercial repaint projects
- Hospitals, schools, universities, barracks, offices, or institutional facilities
- Managing multiple crews or projects
