A non-profit organization is seeking a Food Service Specialist for a short-term, part-time position working Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Job Responsibilities:
- Enter weekly orders for meals and request substitutions for special diets
- Distribute monthly menu and nutritional information
- Assist with receipt of deliveries including verifying quantities, reporting issues, and maintaining an accurate inventory of product
- Organize, store, date, and rotate stock as directed
- Ensure timely preparation and distribution of meals
- Place pre-packaged meals in oven for cooking as indicated and take temperature of cooked meals to ensure a safe minimum temperature
- Maintain daily temperature logs for food and equipment
- Use product carefully and according to guidelines to reduce waste
- Help to reconcile discrepancies and maintain an orderly and sanitary kitchen area
- Ensure leftover food, supplies, and equipment are stored and/or discarded properly
- Comply with health and food safety regulations and follow established sanitization procedures to properly clean items and surfaces
- Help prepare for and participate in health and safety inspections
- Learn how to operate fire/safety equipment
Job Qualifications:
- Must have a High School Diploma or GED
- Food service experience preferred
- Must have an Ohio Food Protection Manager Certification
- Knowledge of and adherence to PEP Policies and Procedures, USDA National School Lunch and Breakfast Program, and public health, sanitation and food service regulations is required
- Must be familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Must have the ability to work professionally, effectively, and collaboratively with others
- Must be able to make appropriate decisions, use sound judgment, and respond quickly and effectively to high-priority situations
- Must have good organizational skills while paying a high attention to detail
- Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, complex, and dynamic environment
- Must have the ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks and projects
- Must demonstrate a passion for serving youth with a variety of experiences and backgrounds
- Must be punctual with a solid work history with no attendance issues
