Position Summary
J&J Trucking, Inc. is seeking a professional and safety-focused CDL-A Line-Haul Driver to transport freight between designated terminals, customer locations, drop yards, and relay points. This position primarily operates on established routes and schedules and may require nighttime, weekend, and holiday driving. The Line-Haul Driver is responsible for completing assigned runs safely, efficiently, and on time while maintaining accurate records, protecting freight, inspecting equipment, and complying with all FMCSA, DOT, and company requirements.
Key Responsibilities

Operate a Class A commercial vehicle safely and efficiently on assigned line-haul routes.

Transport freight between terminals, customer facilities, drop yards, and relay points on time and in good condition.

Report for scheduled dispatches on time and prepared to complete the assigned run.

Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of tractors, trailers, and related equipment.

Perform primarily drop-and-hook operations, with live loading or unloading when required.

Safely couple and uncouple tractors, trailers, converter dollies, air lines, and electrical connections.

Build, break down, and inspect doubles or trailer combinations when assigned and properly endorsed.

Verify trailer numbers, seal numbers, bills of lading, manifests, placards, and destination information before departure.

Inspect freight and equipment for damage, securement, proper loading, weight distribution, and roadworthiness.

Maintain accurate ELD logs, driver vehicle inspection reports, trip documents, fuel receipts, toll records, and delivery paperwork.

Follow designated routes, fuel locations, relay procedures, and terminal check-in requirements.

Coordinate trailer exchanges and relay handoffs with dispatch and other drivers.

Provide timely arrival, departure, drop, hook, delay, and equipment-status updates.

Immediately report traffic delays, adverse weather, accidents, freight discrepancies, mechanical problems, or hours-of-service limitations.

Protect freight from damage, loss, contamination, theft, and unauthorized access.

Comply with all FMCSA, DOT, and company safety policies and operating procedures.

Communicate professionally with dispatch, customers, terminal personnel, other drivers, and management.

Maintain tractor cleanliness and leave trailers and related equipment in acceptable condition.

Perform other transportation-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Valid CDL Class A license.

Must have Hazmat, Tanker, Doubles, and Triples endorsements

Current DOT Medical Certificate.

Minimum two years of verifiable commercial driving experience and at least 24 years of age.

Clean driving record with no major violations.

Strong knowledge of FMCSA regulations, hours-of-service requirements, and safe driving practices.

Ability to operate ELD systems and follow routing and dispatch instructions.

Line-haul, relay, terminal-to-terminal, overnight-route, or drop-and-hook experience preferred.

Ability to safely couple, uncouple, inspect, and operate single-trailer and combination equipment.

Ability to read and verify manifests, bills of lading, placards, trailer numbers, seals, and shipping documents.

Ability to work independently with limited direct supervision.

Must be reliable, punctual, professional, and capable of maintaining a dependable route schedule.
Physical Requirements

Ability to sit for extended periods while driving.

Ability to lift up to 50–75 pounds as needed.

Ability to climb, bend, reach, push, pull, and secure loads or equipment when required.

Ability to repeatedly enter and exit the tractor and safely couple and uncouple equipment.

Ability to work outdoors in changing temperatures and weather conditions.

Must meet all applicable DOT physical qualification requirements.

Work Schedule

Scheduled line-haul routes based on company freight requirements.

Routes may operate during daytime, overnight, weekend, and holiday hours.

Routes may include same-day returns, overnight layovers, relay runs, or multiple-terminal assignments.

Drivers must report by the assigned dispatch time and remain available until the scheduled run and required documentation are completed.

Starting and ending times may vary because of freight volume, weather, traffic, customer delays, equipment availability, and operational needs.

Drivers must maintain sufficient hours-of-service availability for assigned runs.
