Duties
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, and prosthodontics.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments and equipment according to infection prevention management protocols.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray) using dental x-ray equipment and 3D scanners, ensuring accurate imaging for diagnosis.
- Manage patient records using electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic, ensuring all documentation complies with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies.
- Perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort.
- Monitor vital signs and assist in medical documentation for patients with special needs or pediatric cases.
- Process dental instruments following sterilization procedures while adhering to infection control standards and aseptic techniques.
- Support patient management by providing pre-appointment instructions, answering questions about procedures, and assisting with patient care throughout their visit.
Experience
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred, especially with general dentistry, pediatrics, or oral surgery environments.
- Proficiency in dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding is essential for accurate documentation.
- Familiarity with dental equipment including X-ray machines, digital imaging tools, and 3D scanners enhances your ability to support clinical operations effectively.
- Knowledge of dental assisting best practices such as infection prevention management, dental sterilization procedures, and aseptic technique is crucial.
- Experience with patient management software like Dentrix or Eaglesoft will facilitate seamless recordkeeping and appointment scheduling.
- Ability to demonstrate excellent communication skills for interacting with patients of all ages while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies.
- A strong understanding of healthcare infection prevention and control expertise ensures safety for both patients and staff.
