Duties
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures by preparing supplies and maintaining a sterile environment
- Safely handle animals of all sizes, ensuring their comfort and safety while supporting restraint and positioning as needed
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting pet owners, scheduling appointments, and explaining basic care instructions
- Maintain accurate records of patient histories, treatments, medications, and procedures in compliance with clinic protocols
- Clean and disinfect treatment areas, kennels, surgical instruments, and equipment to uphold hygiene standards
- Monitor hospitalized animals’ conditions, report changes to the veterinary team, and provide basic care such as feeding and administering medications
- Support inventory management by restocking supplies and notifying staff of low stock levels
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional coursework or certification in animal care is a plus
- Prior experience working with animals or in a veterinary setting is preferred but not required; enthusiasm for learning is essential
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with clients and team members
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate weights, and perform physically demanding tasks reliably
- Knowledge of animal behavior and handling techniques to ensure safety for animals and staff
- Basic understanding of medical terminology related to veterinary care is advantageous but not mandatory
