SUMMARY:
Provide evidence-based literacy instruction, assessment, and intervention support within LISD operated special education programs using science of reading practices and MTSS frameworks.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Required:

Have experience as a successful Special Education classroom teacher.

Have sufficient knowledge of scientifically based reading research, special expertise in quality reading instruction and infusing reading strategies into content area instruction, and data management skills.

Have a strong knowledge base in working with teachers and other classroom staff.

Have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in education and advanced coursework in reading or have completed professional development in evidence-based literacy instructional strategies.
Preferred:

Reading Specialist certification, LETRS training, or the equivalent amount of training focused on research-based practices in early literacy
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, and REGISTRATIONS

Valid Michigan Special Education Teacher Certificate
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
188 days, salary, and fringe benefits per LIEA master contract. Exempt.
