Our firm is supporting a confidential client in the power generation sector seeking a Tuning Engineer – Combustion & Controls. This role provides fleet‑wide technical support for combustion tuning, emissions compliance, operability, and stability, with a strong emphasis on Dry Low NOx (DLN) systems.
The role blends combustion and thermo‑fluids expertise with controls knowledge to support commissioning, post‑outage recommissioning, online troubleshooting, and long‑term fleet performance improvement.
United States — primary work in Texas, with periodic travel and remote support for other assets.
- Provide DLN combustion tuning support to ensure emissions compliance, stability, and operability

Support commissioning and post‑major‑outage recommissioning including first fire, loading, and stabilization

Troubleshoot combustion dynamics, emissions drift, instability events, and mode transfer issues

Analyze operating data and trends to diagnose combustion and operability problems

Execute tuning adjustments within approved limits to optimize emissions and stability margins

Evaluate fuel/air perturbation responses and interactions with combustion support systems

Develop and maintain tuning procedures, acceptance criteria, and troubleshooting guides

Support auto‑tuning tools and platforms, including validation of tuning recommendations

Collaborate with Controls, Field Service, Operations, and Engineering teams to deliver safe and reliable outcomes

Contribute to fleet monitoring and diagnostics efforts by defining indicators, thresholds, and lessons learned
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline

5+ years of experience in gas turbine combustion, DLN tuning, or combustion subject‑matter expertise

Strong understanding of combustion dynamics, emissions controls, and operability across the load range
