Goldin & Stafford, one of the premier Excavation and Demolition Contractors serving the Washington DC Metropolitan region, is seeking an experienced and motivated Earthwork / Sitework Foreman to join our team.
This position is responsible for supervising field crews, coordinating daily site operations, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to project plans and schedules. The Foreman will work closely with Superintendents and Project Management to manage production, equipment, and labor on active construction projects.
This is a working foreman role, and candidates should be comfortable assisting crews and operating equipment when necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of field crews, operators, and laborers.
- Plan and assign daily work tasks to ensure efficient production and project progress.
- Coordinate equipment, trucking, and material deliveries with dispatch.
- Read and interpret construction drawings, site plans, and grading plans.
- Perform job layout including staking, grade checks, and site measurements.
- Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with company safety policies.
- Monitor job site conditions and maintain proper erosion control and site safety.
- Coordinate with superintendents, project managers, and other trades onsite.
- Maintain daily communication regarding production, manpower, and job progress.
- Assist with equipment operation when needed including excavators, loaders, skid steers, rollers, and other construction equipment.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years construction experience
- Minimum 3 years supervising field crews
- Experience in excavation, utilities, grading, demolition, or site development required
- Ability to read construction plans and perform job layout
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to coordinate crews, equipment, and materials on active job sites
Working Environment
Work is performed outdoors on active construction sites and may involve exposure to:
- Temperature fluctuations including extreme heat and cold
- Dust, noise, and heavy construction equipment
- Uneven terrain and active construction zones
During inclement weather such as heavy rain or snow, job sites may close for safety reasons.
