ROLE
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Residential Draftsman to join our residential remodeling team. This role is ideal for someone with a degree or background in architectural drafting, architecture, interior architecture, construction management, or a related field who is eager to grow their technical and design skills in a hands-on environment.
In this role, you will work closely with experienced designers, project managers, and construction professionals to develop residential remodeling plans and construction documents. You’ll gain exposure to the full remodeling process — from field measurements and design development to permitting and construction coordination.
We are looking for someone who is organized, curious, coachable, and excited to learn how great residential remodeling projects come together.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist in developing floorplans, elevations, sections, and construction documents for residential remodeling projects.
- Create and revise CAD drawings using Chief Architect and other drafting software.
- Support the design and production team in translating concepts into accurate, buildable plans.
- Conduct site visits and field measurements to assist with as-built plan creation.
- Coordinate with project managers, designers, and construction teams to ensure plans align with project goals and field conditions.
- Learn and apply residential building codes, drafting standards, and construction best practices.
- Assist in preparing permit and construction drawing sets.
- Help maintain organized project files, drawing standards, and documentation.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for improving workflows and processes.
- Continuously grow technical knowledge related to residential construction and remodeling.
Job Qualifications
- Degree or coursework in Architectural Drafting, Architecture, Interior Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
- 0–3 years of drafting, design, or construction-related experience.
- Familiarity with CAD drafting software required; experience with Chief Architect or AutoCAD is a plus.
- Interest in residential architecture, remodeling, and construction methods.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
- Good communication and collaboration skills.
- Organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple tasks.
- Ability to take feedback positively and grow within a team environment.
- Basic understanding of residential construction or building systems is a plus but not required.
- Enthusiastic, proactive, fast learner who is excited about professional development.
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary plus quarterly profit sharing for a total annual compensation of $60,000 – 80,000 depending on experience
