Join our dynamic team as Part-Time STEAM Program Coordinator, where you will play a key role in inspiring curiosity, creativity, and confidence in youth through hands-on learning. Under the direction of the educational services director, this position helps deliver engaging and educational STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) activities designed to spark innovation and critical thinking in Boys & Girls Club members. This position supports the mission of the Boys & Girls Club of Lansing by providing high-quality, fun, and safe learning experiences that help young people reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver dynamic, hands-on STEAM programs and activities to youth ages 7-17 in both small and large group settings.
- Collaborate with the unit director and other staff to plan, organize, and implement STEAM lessons, workshops, and special events.
- Support and contribute to a variety of Club education initiatives, including afterschool and summer learning programs.
- Serve as a positive role model, promoting curiosity, teamwork, and problem-solving.
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for all participants.
- Assist in daily program operations, including preparation, setup, and cleanup of program materials.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and special events as needed.
- Submit weekly and monthly reports, documentation, and program data as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Passion for working with youth and helping them discover new interests through hands-on learning.
- Knowledge and/or interest in STEAM subjects (science, technology, engineering, art, and math).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to engage youth of varying ages and backgrounds.
- Creative, flexible, and able to adapt lessons for diverse learning styles.
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff and volunteers in a team-oriented environment.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, etc.) REQUIRED.
- Basic skills in 3D printing, Digital Media Arts, Audio and Video equipment PREFERRED.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children or youth in an educational, afterschool, or recreation setting preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to stand, move, and engage actively with youth in program settings.
- Some travel between Club sites or community locations may be required.
Work Schedule:
Part-time position, typically 20–25 hours per week (M-F, from 3-8 or 4-8)
