Heartwood Fence is hiring a Production Manager to oversee residential and commercial fence installation operations in the Virginia Beach market.
We’re looking for someone who can lead crews, keep jobs moving, solve field issues quickly, and ensure projects are completed on time and profitably.
This role is responsible for turning sold jobs into efficiently completed projects.
You’ll work directly with sales, subcontractors/crews, suppliers, and customers to ensure projects stay on schedule and maintain strong margins.
This is not a desk-only role. You’ll spend time both in the field and in the office.
Responsibilities
- Manage installation schedule for fence projects
- Coordinate crews, subcontractors, and materials
- Ensure jobs are completed on time and within budget
- Conduct site visits and troubleshoot project issues
- Review contracts and job specs before production begins
- Communicate with customers regarding scheduling and project updates
- Manage permitting requirements when needed
- Ensure crews meet quality standards
- Handle job callbacks and warranty issues
- Track production KPIs including:
- install cycle time
- gross margin
- crew utilization
- callbacks
- project completion timelines
- Work closely with sales team to ensure clean handoffs from sold projects to production
Qualifications
- 3+ years of construction, home services, fencing, roofing, decking, or similar production/project management experience
- Experience managing subcontractors or field crews
- Strong scheduling and organizational skills
- Comfortable handling multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to solve problems quickly without constant oversight
- Experience reading project drawings/plans is a plus
- Experience with CRM/project management systems is a plus (Jobber, ArcSite, etc.)
Pay: $70,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
