Food Related is a growing specialty food importer and distributor serving restaurants, hotels, caterers, distributors, and non-profit organizations throughout Texas.
We are seeking a reliable, organized, and hands-on Receiving & Warehouse Lead to support our Receiving Manager in the daily operation of our warehouse and receiving department.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys leading a small team, maintaining an organized warehouse, ensuring inventory accuracy, and keeping receiving operations running efficiently.
This is a working leadership position—not a desk job. The successful candidate will work alongside the warehouse team while helping direct daily operations, maintain company standards, and ensure products are received, inspected, documented, and stocked accurately.
What This Role Does
This role supports the Receiving Manager by helping oversee the daily receiving operation, supervising a small team of warehouse associates, maintaining inventory accuracy, and ensuring products move efficiently from the receiving dock into warehouse inventory.
The Receiving & Warehouse Lead serves as the Receiving Manager's primary support and is expected to confidently operate the receiving dock whenever the Receiving Manager is unavailable.
A typical day may include:
- Receiving and inspecting inbound shipments for accuracy and product quality
- Verifying Purchase Orders, supplier invoices, packing slips, and receiving documentation
- Identifying and communicating shortages, damages, overages, or quality concerns
- Processing receiving paperwork and maintaining inventory records
- Ensuring compliance with company receiving procedures and inventory control standards
- Directing warehouse associates and helping prioritize daily work assignments
- Pulling customer orders and restocking warehouse inventory
- Loading and unloading delivery trucks
- Breaking down pallets and properly stocking incoming inventory
- Managing pallet labels and the warehouse three-color tape staging system
- Operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and warehouse equipment safely
- Communicating inventory discrepancies and customer order returns with the Purchasing Department
- Maintaining warehouse cleanliness using the Master Cleaning Schedule
- Working in refrigerated cooler and freezer environments
- Running the receiving dock when the Receiving Manager is unavailable
This role requires strong leadership, organization, attention to detail, computer proficiency, and the ability to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
Work Environment
This position supports a fast-paced food distribution warehouse where organization, communication, and teamwork are critical to daily success.
The role requires frequent lifting, forklift operation, walking, bending, and working throughout the warehouse, receiving dock, cooler, and freezer. Candidates should be comfortable working in refrigerated environments and performing physical work throughout the day.

Technical Requirements
- Previous warehouse leadership or supervisory experience required
- Forklift Certification required
- Experience in warehouse receiving and inventory control
- Experience processing receiving paperwork, Purchase Orders, supplier invoices, and inventory documentation
- Experience directing warehouse personnel and assigning daily work
- Ability to operate the receiving dock independently when the Receiving Manager is unavailable
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and warehouse management/inventory software
- Strong organizational, inventory control, and documentation skills
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work in refrigerated cooler and freezer environments
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds throughout the day
- Experience within food distribution, grocery, or foodservice distribution strongly preferred
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
