Team Member Machining
Summary: The primary purpose of this position is the proficient operation of green and finish machining equipment including but not limited to tool offsets, daily machine maintenance and program editing. This position reports to the Machining Supervisor
Essential Functions:
- Ensure department objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost effective manner.
- Complete required work documents such as work order transactions, time sheets, parts produced report, move tags, inspection sheets, etc.
- Dimensionally check parts for conformance to operation drawings using inspection equipment including micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, air gage, comparators and other required inspection equipment.
- Reset wheels, tooling and tables as to maintain proper sizes by adjusting or correcting work offsets or similar adjustments.
- Communicate with Team Trainers, Team Coordinators and Tool Crib personnel to acquire necessary tools and supplies to keep the machine operating properly.
- Operate primary and secondary equipment in the assigned work area.
- Develop and maintain a close working relationship with all area Team Members, Departments and Managers.
- Must complete mechanical setup of wheels, dressers, centers, probes, etc.
- Independently produce and present parts as to pass first article inspection
- Reset tooling and maintain proper sizes by adjusting or correcting the working machine offsets.
- Prepares and operates machine tools, such as laths, milling machines, boring machines, and grinders, to machine metallic and nonmetallic work pieces according to specifications, tooling instructions, and standard charts, applying knowledge of machining methods.
- Reads blueprint or job order for product specifications, such as dimensions and tolerances, and tooling instructions, such as fixtures, feed rates, cutting speeds, and depths of cut, and ascertains sequence of operations.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Assure that machinery, equipment and facilities are properly maintained for efficient production, communicating need for corrective action to the Department Supervisor and Maintenance Department.
- Alert Management to any personnel issues or violation of company policies and procedures.
- May perform some quality control functions to ensure that the manufactured products meet quality standard.
- Cross train in assigned areas as directed by Supervision.
- Performs other work as directed by Supervision.
Required Physical and Environmental Demands:
- Stand for prolonged periods. Work and move among departments. Excellent hand/eye coordination. Lift up to 40 pounds. Manual dexterity to operate primary and secondary equipment.

Education, Experience and Skills Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent. Post high school Technical Training certificate or Technical Degree preferred but not required.
- Minimum 3 years machining experience within an industrial environment preferred.
- High energy level, ability to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events and reacts well under pressure.
- Displays willingness to make timely decisions, exhibits sound and accurate judgment and communicates changes effectively.
- Possess strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact effectively with diverse personalities and individuals of all levels within and outside the organization.
- Must be a team player, self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Basic math skills, such as: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions and decimals in order to read understand and operate measurement instruments and work documents.
- Includes appropriate people in decision-making process and supports/explains reasoning for decisions, resourceful and well organized.
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
