ABOUT THE ROLE
We're looking for a hands-on Industrial Training & Safety Specialist who enjoys teaching, coaching, and helping employees succeed. You'll train team members in equipment, safe work practices, forklifts, and shop operations while creating engaging training materials, videos, and job aids. This role partners closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance to build a safe, skilled, and productive workforce.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver classroom and shop floor training and safe work practices on machinery, tools, forklifts, man lifts, and rigging.
- Coach employees on ergonomics, injury prevention, productivity, workmanship standards, and shop discipline.
- Support onboarding of new hires and cross-training of existing staff.
- Develop and maintain training programs, and visual job aids for equipment operation and shop safety. Must feel comfortable behind camera to create video training material content.
- Ensure all training aligns with company procedures and standards.
- Evaluate employee competency, identify skill gaps, and implement refresher training.
- Maintain training records, certifications, and skill progression tracking.
- Train employees on shop and field safety, LOTO, PPE, hazard recognition, material handling, and equipment safety.
- Promote proactive safety culture and ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Partner with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance teams to support training needs.
- Assist in training for new equipment, tooling, and processes, and support corrective actions through targeted training.
- Update programs based on process improvements and lessons learned.
- Identify opportunities to enhance safety, productivity, and workforce readiness.
REQUIREMENTS
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing equipment and shop operations.
- Experience with forklifts, man lifts, rigging, and material handling.
- Understanding safety, ergonomics, and injury prevention.
- Strong communication, coaching, and team collaboration skills.
- Skilled in assessing performance, problem-solving, and motivating employees.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint and basic Excel.
- Must be able to type 35+ WPM.
