Responsibilities
- Supervise nursing staff and coordinate patient care activities across multiple units, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols and safety standards.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations to inform care plans.
- Administer medications, injections, IV infusions, and perform specialized procedures such as catheterization and sterile processing.
- Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Epic or Cerner to document medical records accurately and efficiently while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
- Oversee patient intake, discharge planning, and case management processes to optimize patient outcomes in diverse settings including inpatient, outpatient, hospice, or home care.
- Manage emergency situations with expertise in airway management, acute pain management, trauma response (Level I & II Trauma Centers), and ICU protocols.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on diagnostic evaluations such as medical imaging or laboratory testing; ensure infection control practices are followed rigorously.
- Lead staff meetings, provide mentorship on ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and documentation standards to uphold NCQA standards and quality benchmarks.
Skills
- Proven experience in critical care environments such as ICU, emergency room, or trauma centers with Level I or II trauma certification preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and pharmacology relevant to acute and chronic patient care.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks for efficient documentation and data retrieval.
- Strong leadership abilities with excellent communication skills; capable of guiding teams through complex clinical scenarios involving infectious disease care or dementia/memory care patients.
- Skilled in performing venipuncture, phlebotomy, tube feeding management, wound suturing, and other advanced nursing procedures.
- Experience working with diverse populations such as pediatrics (including neonatal ventilator care), geriatrics (including Alzheimer’s & dementia care), individuals with developmental disabilities or behavioral health needs.
