Spherion Fort Myers is seeking a full-time Broadcast Engineer to join a forward-thinking engineering team at a premier television broadcasting station in Fort Myers, FL. This hands-on role places you at the heart of live television, where you will support the vital systems keeping the newsroom and on-air programming running smoothly. You will work alongside a highly collaborative team across news, production, IT, and operations, ensuring high-quality broadcasting reaches the local community every day.
In this role, you will maintain and troubleshoot essential computer, server, and transmission systems. From supporting daily hardware and software issues to executing emergency repairs during breaking news or severe weather, your technical expertise will directly impact live production. Responsibilities
- Maintain and troubleshoot computers, servers, and broadcast-related systems
- Support internal users with hardware, software, and studio automation issues
- Ensure seamless operation and transmission of live and recorded broadcasts-Perform preventative maintenance, equipment installations, and emergency repairs
- Provide technical support during critical events, breaking news, and system upgrades
- Assist with station-wide technical initiatives and document system changes
Qualifications
- 2 - 3 years of professional engineering or broadcast experience
- Bachelors degree in a related field, or equivalent combined certification and experience
- Strong familiarity with Windows OS, server/desktop environments, and networking/IP systems
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting broadcast equipment and transmission systems
- Ability to stay calm, clear, and effective under pressure in live production environments
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the flexibility to work weekends or on-call hours as needed
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and traverse the workspace
- Experience working with RF systems and transmitters
- Familiarity with video photography equipment and production workflows
- A solution-focused mindset and natural leadership capabilities
