Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize dental instruments using aseptic techniques to maintain infection control standards.
- Assist dentists chairside during various procedures, including X-ray imaging, medical imaging, and dental restorations.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray) ensuring patient safety and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Manage patient records accurately within EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic, including medical documentation and coding.
- Collect vital signs and review medical history to support comprehensive patient assessments.
- Provide excellent dental receptionist support by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and guiding patients through their visit.
- Support pediatric dentistry procedures by engaging young patients with patience and understanding while ensuring safety protocols are followed.
- Maintain an organized clinical environment by adhering to infection control protocols and managing dental supplies efficiently.
- Assist with advanced technology such as 3D scanners and other medical imaging tools to enhance diagnostic accuracy.
- Educate patients on dental terminology, post-treatment care, and oral hygiene practices to promote long-term oral health.
Experience
- Proven experience working as a Dental Assistant in a busy dental clinic setting, preferably with exposure to general dentistry and specialized fields like prosthodontics or endodontics.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and data security.
- Hands-on experience with X-ray procedures, medical imaging techniques, and chairside assisting in pediatric dentistry environments.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques.
- Ability to perform vital signs measurement accurately and support infection prevention protocols effectively.
