Wild Rivers Habitat for Humanity is seeking a Communications Coordinator to help share the stories, impact, and community connections behind our work across Northwest Wisconsin.
This position focuses primarily on communications, storytelling, social media, and community engagement. The Communications Coordinator will help strengthen public awareness of affordable housing needs while highlighting the impact of our home construction, home repair, volunteer, and community programs throughout our rural service area.
The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who enjoys writing, photography, social media, and connecting with people in community-based settings. This role is well suited for someone who is creative, organized, reliable, and excited to help tell meaningful stories that make a difference locally.

Qualifications & Experience
This is an entry to mid-level position. We welcome candidates who are early in their career, changing career paths, or looking to grow within nonprofit communications and community engagement. We recognize that nonprofit work often attracts individuals who are looking for meaningful, community-centered careers and a workplace where they can see the direct impact of their efforts. While small nonprofits may operate differently than large corporate environments, this role offers the opportunity to contribute creatively, build strong relationships, gain diverse experience, and be part of a mission-driven team serving local communities.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, or related field — or equivalent experience
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Experience with social media platforms and digital communications
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Experience with Canva or similar design tools preferred
- Photography, video, or basic graphic design skills are a plus
Most importantly, we are looking for someone who cares about community impact, enjoys working with people, and is excited to help tell the story of affordable housing in rural communities.
We recognize that candidates bring a variety of experiences and backgrounds. If this position feels like a good fit for your interests and strengths, we encourage you to apply even if you do not meet every listed qualification.
