About CIE Defense
CIE Defense is a veteran-owned defense contractor specializing in advanced manufacturing, logistics, security solutions, hazardous materials transportation, and support services for government, military, law enforcement, and commercial customers nationwide.
We are seeking professional and safety-focused Independent Contractor Drivers to support our growing transportation and logistics operations. Drivers will be responsible for transporting hazardous materials, explosives-related products, and general cargo while maintaining strict compliance with all applicable federal, state, and company regulations.
Responsibilities
- Safely transport hazardous materials and general cargo throughout the United States.
- Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Ensure all shipping papers, manifests, permits, and regulatory documentation are accurate and complete.
- Comply with all DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and applicable hazardous materials regulations.
- Maintain a professional appearance and represent CIE Defense positively with customers and partners.
- Properly secure cargo and verify load integrity before transport.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and management regarding schedules, delays, and delivery status.
- Assist with loading and unloading operations when required.
- Maintain clean driving records and operate company equipment safely and professionally.
Minimum Qualifications
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or higher.
- Current Hazardous Materials (HazMat) Endorsement.
- Ability to obtain and maintain any additional licenses, permits, or clearances required for specific shipments.
- Minimum 21 years of age.
- Ability to pass background checks and driver qualification requirements.
- Clean driving record with a demonstrated commitment to safety.
- Ability to travel nationwide and work flexible schedules, including overnight trips when required.
- Ability to lift and move materials and equipment as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Class A CDL.
- Previous hazardous materials transportation experience.
- Experience transporting explosives or other regulated materials.
- Military, logistics, transportation, or defense industry experience.
- TWIC Card and/or other transportation security credentials.
Compensation
Compensation is structured on a tiered, experience-based pay model and may include:
- Loaded Mile Rate
- Empty Mile Rate
- General Cargo Mile Rate
- Loading and Unloading Compensation
- Detention and Wait-Time Compensation (when applicable)
- Specialty HazMat and Regulated Materials Premiums (when applicable)
Rates are determined based on qualifications, endorsements, experience level, equipment operated, and mission requirements.
Requirements
- Maintain all required licenses, endorsements, and medical certifications.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and regulatory requirements.
- Possess a smartphone and ability to utilize electronic dispatch and communication systems.
- Maintain professional conduct and customer service standards at all times.
