Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to ensure optimal oral health.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring proper technique and patient comfort.
- Assist with chairside procedures, including preparing instruments, managing infection control protocols, and ensuring aseptic techniques are followed.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to foster long-term dental health.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Adhere strictly to HIPAA regulations by maintaining patient confidentiality and safeguarding sensitive medical information.
- Support the dental team with general dentistry procedures and ensure all equipment is properly sterilized and maintained.
- Monitor infection prevention measures by following healthcare infection control standards and managing sterilization processes diligently.
- Review documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with legal and regulatory standards related to medical coding and recordkeeping.

Qualifications
- Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current credentials.
- Proven experience working in dental clinics or healthcare settings with proficiency in dental assisting techniques.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and dental equipment operation.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; EMR experience is highly preferred.
- Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations, including pediatrics.
- Expertise in infection prevention management, aseptic technique, and healthcare infection control standards.
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely while ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance management and maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
- Strong organizational skills for documentation review, medical records management, and medical coding accuracy.
