About Us
Golden Horseshoe Equestrian has served riders in the St. Louis region since 1982. We're a specialty tack and equestrian retailer supporting English and Western riders — from a child's first lesson to the competition ring. Our mission is supporting every rider's journey, enhancing the lives of horses, and inspiring all who share in the joy of equestrian pursuits.
We're growing, and we're adding a Retail Supervisor to help lead our sales floor.
About the Role
The Retail Supervisor supports our Store Manager in leading day-to-day floor operations. You'll set the customer service standard, drive floor sales performance, develop our associates, and keep the store running smoothly. You'll also serve as the primary backup for the Store Manager when she's out.
This role is focused on retail: customer service, sales, and store operations. Marketing, merchandising, and education are handled by dedicated specialists — so you can give the floor and our customers your full attention.
Responsibilities
- Lead customer service on the sales floor, setting the standard and handling escalated or complex customer situations
- Own daily and weekly floor sales performance; coach associates toward targets
- Support daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures
- Supervise, mentor, and coach floor staff; provide first-level performance feedback
- Manage cash control: drawer counts, till reconciliation, and resolving discrepancies
- Perform operational inventory tasks including cycle counts and inventory adjustments
- Ensure staff training and certifications are current
- Maintain loss prevention practices, with attention to high-value small goods
- Serve as primary backup for the Store Manager
Benefits and Compensation
- Hourly pay rate range of $18 to $20
- One week paid vacation each year after 12 months of continuous employment
- Flexible schedule
- Closed all major holidays
- 20% discount on purchases of new items
- No charge for selling your own items through consignment
- Paid continuing education through select online certifications and in person clinics and classes as they pertain to growing skills that support the store
Qualifications:
Required
- Must work at least one weekend day each week, preferably Sunday, with occasional weekends off as possible.
- Demonstrated ability to run a retail sales floor independently, including opening and closing
- Experience resolving difficult customer situations without escalation
- Willingness and ability to hold peers accountable in the moment while maintaining strong working relationships
- Reliable weekend availability
- Comfort with point-of-sale systems and basic retail reporting
- Ability to lead a small team in a dynamic environment
- Embraces challenges and change with a smile and positive attitude
Preferred
- Prior retail supervisory or key-holder experience
- Equestrian background or familiarity with tack, apparel, and horse care products
- Experience with inventory counts and cash handling procedures
We're looking for someone who takes genuine pride in customer service and store operations as a career — not as a stepping stone to another department.
What We Value
- Community — we're a gathering place for riders, not just a store
- Education — we help customers understand, not just purchase
- Enjoyment — the joy of horses is why we're all here
- Integrity — we do right by our customers and each other
- Excellence — we hold ourselves to a high standard every day
