Position Overview
The Head of Programs & Impact provides strategic leadership for TATT’s programming portfolio and is responsible for ensuring that every initiative delivers measurable impact while advancing our mission.
This leader will oversee the planning, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of all organizational programs while building systems that position TATT for sustainable national growth.
Working closely with the Executive Director and Executive Leadership Team, this individual will help translate vision into measurable community impact.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Program Leadership
- Develop and execute TATT’s annual programming strategy.
- Ensure all programs align with the organization’s mission and strategic priorities.
- Identify opportunities for new initiatives that address the evolving needs of the African diaspora.
- Develop annual goals, KPIs, and success measures for each major program.
Program Management
Provide strategic oversight for TATT’s programming portfolio, including initiatives such as:
- Culture Bridge
- TATT Thrive
- Career & Business Forums
- Leadership Development
- Educational Workshops
- Youth Programming
- Future initiatives approved by the Executive Team
Responsibilities include:

Impact & Evaluation
One of the most important responsibilities of this role is helping TATT measure and communicate its impact.
Responsibilities include:
- Establish organizational program KPIs.
- Design participant surveys and evaluation tools.
- Develop impact dashboards.
- Measure program outcomes.
- Produce quarterly impact reports.
- Provide program data to support grant applications and sponsor reporting.
Volunteer Leadership
Recruit, mentor, coach, and support volunteer program leaders.
This includes:
- onboarding
- leadership development
- delegation
- succession planning
- volunteer engagement
- accountability
Success in this role depends on leading through influence rather than authority.
Cross-Functional Leadership
Partner closely with:
- Executive Director
- Head of Fundraising & Partnerships
- Chief Marketing Officer
- Regional Directors
- Membership Team
- Finance Team
Ensure that programming, fundraising, communications, partnerships, and membership initiatives work together toward shared organizational goals.
Operational Excellence
Develop organizational systems including:
- Annual program calendar
- Standard operating procedures
- Event planning templates
- Program budgets
- Volunteer manuals
- Risk management plans
- Reporting dashboards
- Documentation standards

Time Commitment
This is a volunteer executive leadership position requiring approximately 10–15 hours per week.
Because nonprofit work is seasonal, the time commitment may increase temporarily during major events, conferences, fundraising campaigns, or strategic initiatives.
The role includes:
- Weekly Executive Leadership Team meeting (1 hour)
- Weekly one-on-one meeting with the Executive Director (30–60 minutes)
- Monthly Program Team meeting
- Regular collaboration with executive leaders
- Oversight of volunteer program leaders
- Attendance at major TATT events and annual leadership retreats, where possible
Successful candidates are proactive, organized, responsive, and able to balance executive leadership responsibilities alongside their professional careers.
Qualifications
We’re looking for someone who brings both strategic thinking and a collaborative spirit.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Five or more years of leadership experience in nonprofit, education, healthcare, social impact, or community organizations.
- Experience leading volunteers or cross-functional teams.
- Strong project and program management skills.
- Experience developing impact measurement frameworks.
- Budget management experience.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Grant reporting or funder engagement experience is a plus.

- Build relationships with program leaders and volunteers.
- Assess TATT’s current programming portfolio.
- Develop a 12-month program roadmap.
- Establish standardized planning and reporting processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve program quality and volunteer engagement.
First 12 Months
- Deliver a high-quality annual programming portfolio.
- Launch quarterly impact reporting for the Board and funders.
- Strengthen collaboration across the Executive Leadership Team.
- Increase volunteer engagement and retention.
- Build systems that support sustainable organizational growth.
- Position TATT’s programming for expanded grant funding and national impact.
Pay: $1.00 - $2.00 per month
