The Dental Hygienist is an important part of the patient care delivery team. This role is directly responsible for providing clinical treatment of patients as deemed appropriate by state guidelines as directed by the provider.
Always ensure the care and welfare of patients in a friendly, helpful, and courteous manner.
Observe patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines.
Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
Documents and reviews patients medical and dental health history before providing treatment.
Accurately completes patient clinical records.
Educates patients by answering questions about procedures, treatment, and postoperative instructions.
Presents and schedules treatment as needed.
Provides delivery of hygiene care to the patient for procedures outlined within licensure.
Take radiographs as ordered by the provider.
Ensure that clinical tools and equipment are properly cleaned and sterilized before procedures begin.
Setting up and preparing for clinical procedures before the arrival of the patient.
Keep operatories stocked with necessary supplies.
Clean and disinfect all equipment and working surfaces to the required standards.
Keep the clinical areas and all equipment and instruments clean, tidy, and sterile as appropriate according to health and safety and infection control procedures and manufacturers’ instructions.
Use all equipment and machinery in accordance with manufacturers’ recommendations and ensure that they are maintained regularly and in good working order
Be familiar and comply with all Health and Safety rules and guidance infection control and ensure safe disposal of sharps and clinical waste.
Other office tasks as assigned during clinical downtime.
