POSITION SUMMARY
The Per Diem Medical Assistant (Telehealth Support) provides clinical and administrative support during virtual patient visits. This role is primarily responsible for assisting healthcare providers with telehealth appointments, patient intake, chart preparation, real-time documentation, and follow-up coordination. The Medical Assistant serves as an essential member of the care team, ensuring efficient virtual visit workflows and exceptional patient experiences.
ROLE OBJECTIVES
This Role Ensures:
- Smooth and efficient telehealth visit operations.
- Accurate and timely patient documentation.
- Effective communication between patients and providers.
- Compliance with HIPAA and organizational standards.
This Role Is Accountable For:
- Supporting providers during telehealth appointments.
- Maintaining accurate patient records in Office Ally EHR.
- Facilitating patient scheduling and follow-up activities.
- Delivering excellent patient service and support.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIESTELEHEALTH VISIT SUPPORT
- Join scheduled telehealth appointments and assist providers throughout patient visits.
- Prepare patient charts and review records before appointments.
- Verify patient demographics, medications, allergies, and medical history.
- Ensure patients are connected and ready prior to provider participation.
- Assist with virtual rooming procedures and patient intake.
CLINICAL DOCUMENTATION
- Document provider assessments, treatment plans, and patient communications in real time.
- Complete charting accurately and promptly within Office Ally EHR.
- Upload and organize patient records and supporting documentation.
- Ensure documentation meets clinical and regulatory standards.
PATIENT COORDINATION
- Schedule follow-up appointments and telehealth visits.
- Coordinate referrals and patient care instructions as directed by providers.
- Contact patients regarding appointment reminders and care plan follow-up.
- Address routine patient inquiries and escalate concerns when appropriate.
EHR SUPPORT
- Maintain accurate patient records within Office Ally EHR.
- Support providers with EHR navigation and documentation workflows.
- Ensure all patient information is secure and HIPAA compliant.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs)Documentation Accuracy
Target: 98% or greater chart accuracy
Visit Readiness
Target: 100% telehealth appointments prepared prior to provider entry
Chart Completion
Target: Same-day completion of assigned documentation
Patient Satisfaction
Target: Positive patient and provider feedback regarding visit support
POSITION QUALIFICATIONSEducation
- Medical Assistant Certification preferred.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Experience
- Minimum one (1) year of experience in a medical office, telehealth, or virtual healthcare environment preferred.
- Experience with Office Ally EHR preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong medical documentation skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Ability to multitask during live patient encounters.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and healthcare software systems.
- Knowledge of HIPAA and patient confidentiality requirements.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work Environment: Fully Remote
Schedule: Per Diem / As Needed
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
