Bold Steps Behavioral Health is seeking an experienced Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or other appropriately licensed psychiatric provider to join our growing outpatient behavioral health program in East Providence, Rhode Island.
The provider will work as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team serving adults with mental health and co-occurring substance use disorders. Primary responsibilities include psychiatric evaluations, medication management, ongoing psychiatric follow-up, treatment planning, and care coordination.
The ideal candidate has experience working in structured outpatient behavioral health settings, including PHP, IOP, and/or general outpatient services, and is comfortable collaborating closely with clinical leadership and other members of the treatment team.
Essential Responsibilities
- Complete comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments
- Conduct medication evaluations and medication reconciliation
- Provide ongoing psychiatric medication management and follow-up
- Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications within the provider's authorized scope of practice
- Monitor medication effectiveness, side effects, contraindications, and treatment response
- Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning and clinical coordination
- Collaborate with therapists, clinical leadership, nursing/medical personnel, and other members of the treatment team
- Provide psychiatric recommendations regarding diagnosis, treatment interventions, medications, and appropriate level of care
- Complete required clinical documentation accurately and within established timeframes
- Coordinate care with outside medical, psychiatric, and behavioral health providers when clinically appropriate
- Support continuity of care during admissions, transitions between levels of care, and discharge planning
- Provide face-to-face psychiatric services as required by the patient's level of care and applicable Rhode Island requirements
- Maintain compliance with Rhode Island BHDDH requirements, professional licensing standards, HIPAA, and applicable state and federal regulations
- Participate in quality improvement and utilization review activities when appropriate
Required Qualifications
- Current and unrestricted Rhode Island professional license appropriate to the provider's discipline and scope of practice
- Graduate degree from an accredited program applicable to the provider's discipline
- Appropriate Rhode Island prescribing authority
- Current DEA registration, when required for prescribing responsibilities
- Ability to provide psychiatric evaluations and medication management independently within the provider's authorized scope of practice
- Experience evaluating and treating adults with behavioral health conditions
- Strong psychiatric assessment, documentation, and medication-management skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary behavioral health treatment team
Preferred Qualifications
- Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
- Experience working with individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders
- Experience in PHP, IOP, or structured outpatient behavioral health programs
- Experience with Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD/MAT)
- Familiarity with Rhode Island BHDDH requirements
- Rhode Island Medicaid and commercial insurance credentialing experience
- Experience working within an electronic health record (EHR)
Schedule
This is a part-time/contract position. The provider's schedule will be structured around program census, licensed capacity, patient needs, and applicable Rhode Island requirements for psychiatric coverage and face-to-face services.
Availability during regular program operating hours is required. Specific weekly hours will be discussed based on program needs and provider availability.
Pay: $90.00 - $125.00 per hour
