Job Summary: The Marketing Director will serve as the Company’s senior marketing and commercial leader responsible for developing a premium food and lifestyle brand and executing comprehensive marketing strategies to drive demand, build brand equity, and expand market share for Slickhorn products, merchandise, and experiences. Working directly with company leadership and legal advisors, this individual will support revenue growth by developing licensing opportunities and strategic partnerships, expanding into wholesale, foodservice, and other scalable distribution channels, and protecting and strengthening the Slickhorn brand and intellectual property. The ideal candidate is a motivated, growth-focused leader with a passion for delivering results and taking ownership of the company’s success. This individual will have a demonstrated history of building strong brands, developing authentic brand narratives that connect with customers, and identifying opportunities to increase market presence and drive long-term business growth.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Marketing & Brand Leadership:
- Develop and execute a scalable and sustainable marketing strategy for all product lines and experiences that aligns with business objectives while creating an authentic, memorable brand that inspires loyalty, evokes emotion, and builds meaningful connections with customers.
- Own the brand positioning, messaging, and visual identity, ensuring consistent and compelling execution across all consumer-facing and trade channels.
- Lead the annual marketing planning process, including budget allocation, campaign development, and establishing key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Identify, analyze, and synthesize market trends, competitive activity, customer demand, and evolving consumer preferences to identify profitable growth opportunities, recommend strategic priorities, and facilitate data-driven business decisions.
2. Product Innovation & Commercialization:
- Drive the innovation pipeline for new products and experiences, overseeing the process from concept generation and market validation through to successful launch.
- Identify and develop licensing and strategic partnership opportunities that generate scalable, reccurring revenue and foster long-term commercial relationships.
- Lead packaging development, ensuring regulatory compliance, brand consistency, and market appeal.
- Analyze post-launch performance, gather market learnings, and feed insights back into future innovation strategies.
3. Sales Enablement & Channel Development:
- Develop compelling marketing tools and materials to equip sales teams for success in distribution, retail, foodservice, and B2B channels.
- Partner with teams to translate consumer and market intelligence into actionable sales strategies and customer-specific programs.
- Cultivate and manage relationships with key retailers, restaurants, distributors, and foodservice operators to drive product placement, promotional activity, and market penetration.
- Develop channel-specific marketing initiatives, including culinary positioning for foodservice, merchandising strategies for retail, and consumer experience.
- Manage external agency relationships (creative, media, PR) for campaign development and execution, ensuring quality, on-brief delivery, and budget adherence.
4. Consumer Insights & Data Analytics:
- Translate complex data into actionable insights that drive brand campaigns, product development, and commercial strategies, prioritizing company profitability, brand consistency, and sustainable growth.
- Oversee the application of consumer and shopper research to refine brand messaging and campaign effectiveness, grounding decisions in evidence.
- Develop programs and strategies to reduce customer acquisition costs and improve company profitability.
5. Budget & Project Management:
- Manage the overall marketing budget, track spending, optimize resource allocation, and ensure financial performance meets or exceeds targets.
- Oversee multiple complex marketing projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery, adherence to scope, and proactive risk identification and mitigation.

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive brand-side marketing experience within the food or agricultural industry
- Demonstrated success in developing meaningful strategic partnerships and executing comprehensive marketing strategies that have driven measurable business growth.
- Extensive experience with brand building, product innovation, and commercialization within both retail and foodservice channels.
- Proficiency with syndicated data tools and market research methodologies.
- Proven experience managing external agencies and significant marketing budgets.
- Ability to travel as required to industry events, client meetings, and company locations.
