Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Surface Mount Technology (SMT) Operator to join our manufacturing team. This role involves operating and maintaining surface mount assembly equipment used in the production of electronic circuit boards. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of electronics assembly, PCB (Printed Circuit Board) handling, and SMT processes, ensuring high-quality output and adherence to safety standards. Responsibilities
- Set up and operate surface mount technology equipment for electronic component placement on PCBs, ensuring precise alignment and placement accuracy.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and assembly instructions to follow blueprint specifications accurately.
- Perform soldering tasks using appropriate techniques such as reflow soldering, hand soldering, and wave soldering to secure components on PCBs.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and specialized machinery to assemble, wire, and troubleshoot electrical panels and electro-mechanical components.
- Conduct routine inspections of assembled PCBs for quality assurance in accordance with IPC 610 standards.
- Follow engineering troubleshooting procedures to identify and resolve issues related to component placement or electrical wiring.
- Maintain detailed documentation of production activities, including schematic references, process notes, and inspection reports.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by adhering to manufacturing best practices and safety protocols.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of PCB assembly processes, including surface mount technology (SMT) techniques.
- Proficiency in reading electrical schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagrams.
- Experience with soldering methods such as reflow soldering and hand soldering techniques.
- Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and their integration into manufacturing systems.
- Ability to operate various hand tools, power tools, and machining equipment safely and effectively.
- Understanding of electrical wiring standards, schematics reading, and electrical blueprint interpretation.
- Knowledge of IPC 610 standards for electronic assemblies quality requirements.
- Competence in using testing instruments such as ohmmeters for electrical troubleshooting.
- Mechanical assembly skills related to electro-mechanical components and electrical panel building.
- Ability to follow detailed blueprints and specifications accurately while maintaining high-quality standards.
