We are seeking a licensed Texas Journeyman Electrician to lead the installation, testing, and commissioning of high-power DC Fast Charging (DCFC) stations. This role focuses strictly on federally funded NEVI corridor projects across Texas. The ideal candidate has strong commercial/industrial experience, a flawless safety record, and meets federal certification mandates for EVSE infrastructure. This position requires a consistent travel rotation consisting of 3 weeks in the field and 1 week at home, with all transit and lodging fully covered.
Key Responsibilities
- EVSE Installation: Install, wire, and connect Level 3 DC Fast Chargers (150kW+), switchgear, transformers, and utility service upgrades.
- Blueprint Reading: Interpret electrical single-line diagrams, site layouts, civil blueprints, and manufacturer specifications.
- Code Compliance: Ensure all installations strictly adhere to the National Electrical Code (NEC Article 625), TDLR regulations, and NEVI program guidelines.
- Testing & Commissioning: Perform insulation resistance testing, phase rotation, ground-grid testing, and initial station power-up sequences.
- Site Leadership: Direct the work of electrical apprentices and coordinate effectively with civil contractors, utility providers, and inspectors.
Required Qualifications (Federal NEVI Compliant)
- Licensure: Active, unrestricted Texas Journeyman Electrician License issued by the TDLR.
- Certification: EVITP Certification (Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Training Program) is strictly required under federal NEVI rules for at least one electrician on site. (We can provide training prior to going into field work)
- Experience: Preferred minimum of 4 years of commercial or industrial electrical experience, with specific experience in medium-voltage distribution, switchgear, or heavy commercial services.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in bending large-diameter conduit (rigid, IMC, EMT up to 3"-4"), wire pulling, and terminating large conductors.
- Physical & Logistics: Ability to lift 50 lbs, work outdoors in various weather conditions, and maintain a valid Texas Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- Travel Flexibility: Ability to travel continuously for 3 weeks at a time out of town.
Preferred Skills
- Prior experience on federally funded infrastructure or civil construction projects (Davis-Bacon Act/Certified Payroll compliance knowledge).
- Experience with heavy equipment operation (skid steers, trenchers, or mini-excavators).
Pay Range: $35.00 – $45.00 / hour (Subject to Davis-Bacon Prevailing Wage rates where applicable)
