As a transportation specialist this person will be responsible for coordinating and providing transportation to seniors, individuals with disabilities, and hospice patients. Transportation will be to various locations within the Fargo/Moorhead area. You will provide assistance in and out of the vehicle for patients as needed.
Flexible shift availability from weekdays, weekends, evenings, and nights.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Transportation Specialist
Inspects vehicle to ensure that it is in a clean and in operable condition; completes inspection paperwork/checklist; reports the need for service or repair;
Transports seniors and individuals with disabilities to and from locations.
Coordinates and plans scheduling and routing to and from medical appointments.
Routes daily trips in an efficient, effective and safe manner.
Resolves scheduling conflicts by staffing with supervisor and/or referring participant to other community resources.
Drives vehicle to and from various locations, following a pre-established schedule and adjusting schedule to accommodate occasional schedule additions
Maintains driver log; if required, lists client name, address and other information for each trip.
Communicates any client welfare concerns to Supervisor.
Washes and cleans the interior of the vehicle; fuels the vehicle.
Participates in in-service training to update skills and learn techniques for dealing with various clients.
Communicates and reports and unusual circumstances to supervisor.
Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the division's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team.

Driving a vehicle safely, skillfully, efficiently
Ability to safely operate wheelchair ramp/lift and stretcher equipment

REQUIRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE
Must be 25 years of age or older
Two years’ experience driving and transporting patients
High School Diploma/GED
Ability to be flexible and effectively manage priorities, multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Ability to work with and communicate effectively with terminally ill patients and their families
