Dominican Village is a not-for-profit, senior living community and assisted living residence founded in 1992 by the sisters of St. Dominic of Amityville, New York. Its mission is to provide a supportive environment in which the sacredness of life and the dignity of each person are held in the highest regard and to offer its residents a choice of programs and services which foster independence, promote physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health, and maximize opportunities for socialization.
Dominican Village is currently seeking Full and Part Time Home Health Aides (HHA) for its Assisted Living Community. Our HHA is a key member of the Wellness Team who nurtures and supports residents by providing care and service as outlined on each resident’s Service Care Plan (SCP).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists residents with activities of daily living, including bathing/showering, dressing, grooming, eating, toileting, hygiene and mobility
- Assists with continence management
- Maintains resident records according to policy
- Follows established protocol for accidents and incidents
- Assists residents in keeping suites/apartments clean, neat and orderly
- Answers calls for assistance and attends to resident needs promptly
- Assists with meal selection, service and feeding as assigned
- Participates in on-going in-service and training programs
- Encourages residents to participate in social/recreational activities as indicated or needed
- Assists with resident technology, medical equipment, assistive devices as needed
- Follows emergency procedures
- Understands and follows safety practices and procedures
- Carries out all other duties as assigned
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/LICENSURE:
- Successful completion of a Home Health Aide Certification Program approved by New York State Department of Health
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Must speak and read English fluently
- Experience working with a geriatric population in residential or home setting preferred
- Experience working with people with dementia
- Ability to perform tasks which may be physically demanding such as pushing, bending and lifting up to 50lbs.
- Ability to maintain positive working relationships with residents, families, peers and other staff members
Candidates MUST have Home Health Aide certification
