Position Summary:
The Inside Steel Sales Representative is responsible for managing customer orders and quotations, maintaining accurate order information, and delivering exceptional customer service. This role serves as a key point of contact between customers, the warehouse, and distribution to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment. This position will also assist with the accounting and clerical functions in the office.
Core Responsibilities:
Customer Service & Relationship Management
- Provide prompt, professional, and solution-oriented service to customers
- Build and maintain strong, long-term customer relationships
- Respond to customer inquiries including pricing, product availability, order status, and issue resolution
Sales & Order Processing
- Prepare and deliver accurate price quotations for standard and non-standard steel products
- Process customer purchase orders in a timely and accurate manner
- Manage order adjustments, cancellations, and changes as needed
- Maintain up-to-date records of all customer interactions and transactions
Coordination & Communication
- Collaborate with warehouse personnel, distributors, and customers to coordinate shipments and deliveries
- Communicate order status updates, delays, and changes to relevant stakeholders
- Ensure alignment between customer requirements and operational capabilities
Order & Data Management
- Retrieve and maintain customer, inventory, and order data within company systems
- Monitor stock availability to support accurate quoting and order fulfillment
- Track and document order activity including scheduling updates, partial shipments, and credit adjustments
- Maintain organized and accurate files for all active orders
Office Management
- Collect and sort incoming mail for distribution and outgoing branch mail as scheduled
- Sort and file invoices, statements, bank drafts, cash books and other accounting documents
- Enter accounting data into computer system
- Assist with other clerical duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- High school diploma required
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience or an Associate degree in Business or a related field

- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- Solid mathematical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic business systems
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment
