Job Summary
Our client is seeking a Registered Pharmacist to join their Pharmacy team on a Per Diem basis. Working under the direction of the Director, Assistant Director, or Manager of Pharmacy Services, the Registered Pharmacist is responsible for ensuring the safe, accurate, and effective dispensing of medications while supporting high-quality patient care.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to review medication orders, monitor patient medication profiles, and ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and best pharmacy practices. The ideal candidate is committed to patient safety, professional excellence, and delivering exceptional customer service in a fast-paced hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and verify physician medication orders for accuracy, appropriateness, and patient safety.
- Evaluate patient medication profiles to identify potential interactions, contraindications, allergies, and dosing concerns.
- Dispense medications in accordance with hospital policies, pharmacy regulations, and clinical standards.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize medication therapy.
- Provide medication education and promote safe medication practices for patients and healthcare staff.
- Participate in infection prevention, quality improvement, patient safety, and risk management initiatives.
- Exercise sound clinical judgment and problem-solving skills in medication-related decision making.
- Supervise and provide guidance to Pharmacy Assistants and Pharmacy Transporters.
- Demonstrate flexibility in staffing assignments while maintaining productivity and professionalism.
- Practice cost-conscious medication management without compromising patient care.
- Maintain compliance with continuing education and New York State licensure requirements.
- Participate in departmental training, competency assessments, and performance improvement activities.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy required.
- Active New York State Pharmacist License required upon hire.
- Working knowledge of medication delivery systems.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
Pay: $57.12 - $85.67 per hour
Work Location: In person
