Duties
- Provide comprehensive assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts or wheelchairs.
- Monitor patient health by observing vital signs, managing medication administration, and reporting changes using Electronic Health Record (EHR) or Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
- Assist with specialized care needs such as Alzheimer’s, dementia, memory care, hospice support, and caring for individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Support patients with medical procedures like catheter care, wound management, and hospice-related tasks while adhering to medical terminology standards.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary restrictions and assist with light housekeeping duties such as cleaning, laundry, and maintaining a safe living environment.
- Document all patient interactions accurately in medical records while ensuring compliance with HIPAA privacy regulations.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals regarding patient care plans and maintain clear communication about patient status and needs.
Requirements
- Proven experience in senior care, home health, assisted living, or nursing home environments is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medication administration protocols, and vital signs monitoring.
- Certifications in CPR and first aid are required; additional certifications such as hospice care or dementia training are advantageous.
- Ability to work independently in a live-in setting while maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines.
- Experience operating EMR/EHR systems for accurate documentation of patient care activities.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with ADLs safely and compassionately while working with individuals who have disabilities or cognitive impairments.
