Lighthouse Mental Wellness is seeking a dedicated Medical Receptionist to be an integral part of our team. If you're passionate about supporting mental health and helping others on their journey to well-being, this role offers the opportunity to make a difference. As the first point of contact for our patients, this role includes scheduling appointments, managing patient inquiries, supporting billing alongside our billing specialist, helping with credentialing, processing prior authorizations, and more. We’re looking for someone who is organized, tech-savvy, collaborative, and ready to take on a variety of tasks while ensuring a seamless experience for both patients and providers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the first point of contact for patients, answering phones and responding to inquiries with professionalism and empathy
- Check patients in and out, ensuring all required information is updated accurately in patients' records
- Triage patient concerns and collect relevant information to support clinicians
- Screen potential new patients and gather necessary data for intake
- Schedule appointments and manage provider calendars
- Complete prior authorization processes and work alongside external billing specialist
- Work collaboratively with our mental health providers and support team
- Assist with other administrative tasks and projects as assigned
What We’re Looking For:
- A minimum of a high school diploma
- At least one year of experience in a medical office environment
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and a strong commitment to patient confidentiality
- Ability to conduct patient intake calls and collect essential information
- Experience with prior authorizations or a willingness to learn
- Understanding of health insurance processes and credentialing
- Proficiency in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems (or ability to quickly learn new software)
- Skilled in Mac OS X, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Excellent customer service skills with a positive, patient-first attitude
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask efficiently
- A proactive problem-solver with strong communication skills
- Comfortable working in a collaborative, team-oriented setting
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and effective in high-stress situations, including de-escalating tense interactions when needed
Position Details:
- Schedule: We are looking a second professional for a job share to work Monday through Friday 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM
- Pay: Starting at $18.00 per hour (commensurate with experience)
