Laboratory Technician needed full time for private environmental lab in Yakima, WA. Degree in Chemistry, Microbiology or closely related field preferred . This position is Monday-Friday 8 am-5 pm with some weekends required. Salary DOE.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Understand and follow established laboratory procedures, safety policies and best laboratory practices
- Conduct routine testing on drinking water and waste water using various chemical, microbiological and physical test methods
- Prepare standards, reagents, and solutions used in laboratory procedures
- Interpret and enter test and calibration results into Laboratory Information Management database
- Ensure that established sample turnaround times are met
- Follow quality control procedures as outlined in Quality Assurance Manual
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, or closely related field. Closely related science or equivalent work experience acceptable in lieu of degree
- Excellent attention to detail and good organization skills
- Ability to contribute to a safe work culture
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Working knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft Word and Excel
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must be meticulous and able to work independently and safely
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and sit or stand for long periods of time
- Experience with analytical instrumentation preferred
- Excellent time management skills
- Excellent driving skills
- Knowledge of sampling techniques for microbiological water samples desired

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
