Starting Pay: $20.25 hourly -Commensurate with Experience
Job Description: The Insurance Specialist will be responsible for the accurate tracking of cash receipts, with emphasis on client insurance and self-pay cash posting. This position will prepare cash journal entries for input in the general ledger, prepare monthly insurance deposits and reconcile cash.
Requirements: Applicants are expected to have either a high school diploma with 4 years of related experience or an associate’s degree in accounting, business, or a related field with at least 1 year of related experience. Prior experience working in a non-profit organization is a plus. Working knowledge of Accumed billing, QuickBooks and Microsoft excel preferred. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, have a strong work ethic and be able to respond quickly to administrative needs while maintaining regular workload.
Responsibilities:
- Record incoming payments and monitor for discrepancies for reconciliation.
- Posting of insurance payments, co-payments, co-insurance and cross-over payments to client accounts.
- Prepare cash journal entries for review and input to general ledger.
- Assist with patient billing as needed including managing patient overdue accounts.
- Assist with payment denials and the follow-up with denied claims on an as needed basis.
- Provide administrative and logistical support to the finance department.
- Represents the agency in the community with courtesy and professionalism.
- Must adhere to all agency policies and procedures.
- Supports a culture that prioritizes professionalism, teamwork, staff development, and kindness to staff and clients.
- This role has an in-person requirement working at our administrative office in Elmira.
- Other assignments and tasks may be added at the discretion of the CFO.
