Position SummaryThe Veteran's Early Learning Center is seeking a compassionate, patient, and collaborative 1:1 Paraprofessional to provide individualized support to a first-grade student in a substantially separate classroom. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the classroom teacher and related service providers to support the student's academic, social, emotional, behavioral, and communication needs throughout the school day.Essential ResponsibilitiesProvide direct 1:1 support to a student in accordance with the student's Individualized Education Program (IEP) and instructional goals.Assist the student in accessing the curriculum through individualized instruction, accommodations, and modifications as directed by the classroom teacher.Support the student's social-emotional development by fostering positive peer interactions, encouraging independence, and reinforcing appropriate social skills.Implement behavior support strategies and individualized behavior plans with consistency and fidelity.Assist with the implementation of personalized visual schedules, routines, transitions, and organizational systems to promote student success throughout the school day.Collaborate closely with the classroom teacher, special education staff, related service providers, and administrators to ensure consistent implementation of instructional and behavioral supports.Collect observational and progress-monitoring data as requested by the classroom teacher.Support the student during classroom instruction, inclusion opportunities, specials, recess, lunch, and other school activities as assigned.Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and adhere to all district policies and procedures.Participate in professional development and team meetings as required.QualificationsAssociate's degree, completion of a paraprofessional certification program, or qualifications consistent with Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education requirements.Experience working with elementary-aged students, particularly students with disabilities, is preferred.Knowledge of behavior support strategies, social-emotional learning, and individualized instructional practices is desirable.Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.Demonstrated patience, flexibility, reliability, and a commitment to supporting students with diverse learning needs.Preferred CharacteristicsThe ideal candidate is caring, dependable, and student-centered, with the ability to build positive relationships while maintaining high expectations.
