Forklift Operator / Yard Operations
Mountain Country Equipment is looking for a dependable and safety-minded Forklift Operator / Yard Operations team member to join our team. This is a hands-on position responsible for operating forklifts and other equipment, loading and unloading trucks, assisting customers, and keeping our yard organized and operating efficiently.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working outdoors, handling heavy materials, operating equipment, and working in a fast-paced environment where safety, accuracy, and customer service are important.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate forklifts, telehandlers, and other material-handling equipment.
- Load and unload customer and delivery trucks safely and efficiently.
- Assist customers with loading and securing products for transport.
- Move, stage, and organize materials, and products throughout the yard.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and safe yard and work area.
- Assist with shipping and receiving, including checking incoming and outgoing materials against documentation.
- Properly store and stage products to maintain an efficient yard layout.
- Perform routine pre-use inspections of forklifts and other equipment and report any safety or mechanical concerns.
- Follow company safety procedures and applicable OSHA requirements.
- Work with other team members to keep daily yard and material-handling operations running smoothly.
- Perform other general yard and material-handling duties as needed.
Requirements
- Previous forklift, telehandler, heavy equipment, warehouse, yard, or material-handling experience preferred.
- Ability to safely operate a forklift and other equipment or willingness to learn.
- Ability to safely lift, carry, push, and move heavy materials.
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Dependable, punctual, and willing to take initiative.
- Previous shipping and receiving experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with OSHA safety requirements and safe material-handling practices is preferred.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screening.
Physical Requirements
This is a physically demanding, hands-on position. The job requires frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, climbing on and off equipment, and lifting or moving heavy materials. Candidates must be able to safely perform the physical requirements of the position.
