Columbia Basin College ("CBC" or the "College") seeks an Office Assistant 2 to serve as the primary point of contact for the Student Recreation Center and campus Food Pantry, providing professional, student-centered support to students, staff, and visitors. This position oversees daily facility operations, supports student employees, coordinates administrative processes and program logistics, ensures quality customer service, and helps maintain a safe, welcoming, and efficient environment that promotes student wellness and basic needs. This position reports to the Director for Student Recreation & Wellness.

- Serve as the Student Recreation Center staff member providing operational coverage during assigned afternoon, evening, and weekend shifts, ensuring safe, efficient, and customer-focused operations of the Student Recreation Center and related services;

Provide front desk and operational support by assisting students and visitors, responding to questions, enforcing facility policies and procedures, monitoring recreation spaces, and addressing facility, equipment, or safety concerns as needed;

Perform daily operational and administrative functions including opening and closing procedures, equipment check-in/check-out, scheduling coordination, data entry, recordkeeping, inventory tracking, and maintenance of departmental logs and reporting systems;

Support departmental programs, events, and activities through preparation, setup, communication, logistical coordination, and general operational assistance;

Assist with daily operations of the campus Food Pantry, including stocking and organizing inventory, coordinating deliveries, supporting distribution processes, maintaining inventory records, and providing respectful and professional service to students accessing basic needs resources;

Maintain clean, organized, and welcoming recreation and pantry environments while monitoring supply levels and communicating operational or maintenance needs to supervisors;

Provide guidance and support to student employees and volunteers during assigned shifts while exercising independent judgment and escalating issues as appropriate;

Identify operational challenges and recommend process improvements to support efficient and effective Student Recreation & Wellness services; and

Perform other related duties as assigned.
- High School diploma or equivalent;

One (1) year of customer service, office support or operational experience; and

First Aid/CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain within sixty (60) days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:

Associate’s degree from an institutionally accredited institution;

Experience in recreation, wellness, facility operations, student services, or higher education environments; and

Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office.

This position is a full-time, overtime eligible classified staff position. The typical work hours are Tuesday through Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 9:15 p.m. and Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. and Saturday from 7:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.; however, must be available to work a flexible schedule when prior notice is given by the College.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, bend, kneel, stoop, communicate, reach and manipulate objects. The position requires mobility including having the ability to move materials on a regular basis such as files, books, office equipment, etc. and travel between buildings on campus. Manual dexterity and coordination are required to operate equipment such as computer keyboard, calculator, and standard office equipment.
