Overview
Join our dedicated healthcare team as a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) / Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), where your compassionate care and attention to detail will make a meaningful difference in patients' lives. In this vital role, you will provide essential support to nursing staff and directly assist patients across various care settings, including hospitals, long-term care facilities, assisted living communities, and home care environments. Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care by assisting with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor and record vital signs, observe patient conditions, and report changes promptly to nursing staff.
- Support patients with specialized needs including Alzheimer's and dementia care, memory care, behavioral health support, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Assist with medical procedures such as catheter care, medication administration under supervision, phlebotomy tasks, and maintaining aseptic techniques.
- Document patient information accurately using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Maintain a safe environment by following infection control protocols and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams in inpatient, outpatient, or home & community care settings to deliver comprehensive patient service.
Skills
- Proven experience working in diverse healthcare environments such as hospitals (including ICU, trauma centers, PICU), nursing homes, hospice, or outpatient clinics.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks or similar platforms for medical documentation.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and vital signs monitoring.
- Expertise in caring for patients with complex needs such as acute or chronic conditions including infectious disease care or behavioral health issues.
- Ability to perform technical skills like catheter care, medication administration, and basic life support certification.
- Experience working with children or seniors in settings like assisted living or geriatrics is highly valued.
- Excellent caregiving skills combined with compassion for patients facing cognitive challenges like Alzheimer’s or dementia.
