American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Surgical Med/Surg unit requiring an active IL RN license and a minimum of three years of relevant nursing experience.

Work in the Surgical unit of a hospital environment
-
13-week contract assignment
-
Night shift schedule: 7:00PM-7:00AM
-
36 hours per week, 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week
-
Weekend shifts required on a rotation basis

Holiday shifts required on a rotation basis
-
May float to other affiliated Carle Health hospital locations
-
EPIC EMR charting experience required
-
Active Illinois RN license in good standing required
-
BLS certification (American Heart Association) required
-
Minimum three years of relevant nursing experience required

ASN required, BSN preferred
-
Level 1 Trauma experience required
-
Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English

Basic computer proficiency including word processing, spreadsheets, email, and web browsers

Strong critical thinking and independent judgment skills

Multicultural sensitivity required

Provide direct nursing care to surgical patients as part of an interdisciplinary care team

Assess patient status, develop individualized care plans, and evaluate patient progress throughout each shift

Perform bedside lab testing and specimen collection in compliance with hospital procedures
-
Collaborate with physicians and nursing staff to coordinate patient care from admission through discharge
-
Utilize appropriate lift equipment and safe patient handling techniques as needed
-
Advocate for patients and provide goal-focused shift reporting
-
Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for this position
-
RTO limited to no more than 7 total days within the 13-week contract
