Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Technician to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a diverse range of construction-related skills and experience, enabling them to make effective contributions to various projects. This role requires a strong understanding of construction processes, the ability to read blueprints and schematics, and hands-on experience with tools and equipment. The Technician will be responsible for executing tasks on-site, ensuring quality workmanship and adherence to safety standards.
Responsibilities include the following but are not limited to those listed.
- Preparing vacant apartments for occupancy.
- Overseeing the care, maintenance, and inventory of all supplies and equipment owned by the property and/or management company.
- Ensuring a professional appearance (uniformed, when applicable, including the employee ID badge) and attitude, at
- all times.
- Maintaining the property during emergency situations such as fire, flood, and weather related events.
- Cleaning work area, tools and equipment.
- Ensuring a timely and courteous response to service requests, make-readies, etc.
- Having thorough knowledge of all Brookside policies and procedures, as well as community-specific policies.
- Ensuring operation within OSHA and EPA standards, as well as following all Fair Housing regulations.
- Reporting any unusual or extraordinary circumstances regarding the residents or the property.
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to execute each essential duty in a satisfactory manner. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- A high school diploma or GED is required, in addition to one to six months related experience and/or training.
- The ability to apply common sense understanding in certain situations, and to deal with problems involving a few
- concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Basic computer skills including the knowledge of how to recognize and operate a mouse and keyboard.
- The ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure.
- The ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and
- procedure manuals, as well as write routine reports and document incidents is essential.
- The ability to effectively present information to residents, employees and vendors.
- The ability to walk the property frequently and regularly while being exposed to outside weather conditions.
- The ability to climb stairs and ladders as business dictates.
- The ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and on rare occasions, move over 100 pounds.
- Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) certification is not required but strongly suggested. The employee is also occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; and risk of electric shock.
