Litigation Assistant
The Black Law Company is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Litigation Assistant to support the firm’s personal injury litigation team. This position is ideal for someone with prior law firm experience who understands litigation deadlines, legal filings, discovery, and case management.
The Litigation Assistant will assist with preparing legal documents, filing through the Florida e-Filing Portal, working on discovery responses, scheduling, communicating with opposing counsel and clients, and supporting attorneys with day-to-day litigation procedures.
Responsibilities include:
- Preparing legal documents, pleadings, motions, notices, and correspondence
- Filing legal documents through the Florida e-Filing Portal
- Assisting with discovery responses, discovery requests, and discovery follow-up
- Organizing and maintaining litigation files
- Tracking deadlines, hearings, depositions, mediations, and court-related dates
- Assisting with case management and moving cases forward
- Scheduling hearings, depositions, mediations, meetings, and client appointments
- Communicating with opposing counsel regarding scheduling and case-related matters
- Communicating with clients regarding case updates, appointments, and needed information
- Preparing and organizing documents for hearings, depositions, mediations, and court deadlines
- Uploading and maintaining documents in the firm’s case management system
- Following up on outstanding documents, discovery, records, and case-related items
- Assisting attorneys with litigation procedures and daily case tasks
Experience preferred:
- Prior experience as a litigation assistant, legal assistant, or paralegal
- Prior experience using the Florida e-Filing Portal
- Personal injury law experience preferred
- Bilingual preferred
- Experience with case management software preferred
- Strong understanding of litigation deadlines and legal document organization preferred
