About Bluestar Marine
Bluestar Marine is South Florida’s leading authority in Marine Indoor Air Quality, Air Purification, and HVAC services for yachts and superyachts arriving from all over the world. As we continue to scale our operations across multiple service divisions, we're looking for a highly skilled and hands-on Financial Controller to help us bring financial clarity, cost control, and strategic insight into every job and every dollar.
What You’ll Own:
- Full-cycle accounting & bookkeeping: Maintain accurate records, categorize transactions, and ensure everything reconciles — no guesswork, no mess.
- Own the monthly close process — accurate and on time, every month.
- Management reporting: Produce accurate P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements monthly. Deliver variance analysis vs. budget with actionable insight — ownership makes decisions based on your numbers.
- Job costing & project profitability: Implement and maintain detailed cost tracking across divisions (Insulation, HVAC, Air Purifiers).
- Revenue tracking by division: Own weekly and monthly financial reporting to leadership, with clear margin visibility.
- Budgeting & forecasting: Work with ownership to prepare budgets, cash flow forecasts, and performance reports.
- Payroll oversight: Review and approve payroll; coordinate with third-party processor.
- QuickBooks Advanced management: Keep the system clean, organized, and aligned with our chart of accounts.
- AR/AP supervision: Oversee invoicing, collections, and vendor payments with support from our admin team.
- Compliance & audit readiness: Ensure clean records, support tax prep, and liaise with CPA when needed.
- You’re a Fit If You Have:
- 5–10+ years of accounting experience in HVAC, construction, field services, or similar project-based businesses
- Strong proficiency in QuickBooks Online Advanced
- Hands-on experience with job costing and margin tracking
- Familiarity with payroll, ideally across hourly and salaried employees
- Solid knowledge of GAAP and accounting best practices
- Sharp attention to detail and a mindset for process improvement
- A proactive, accountable, and resourceful attitude — you take ownership and drive results
Bonus Points For:
- CPA, CMA, or similar credentials
- Experience managing a small team or collaborating with field ops
- Exposure to SBA loan reporting, cost segregation, or real estate accounting
