Job Description: The Pipe Superintendent is responsible for providing overall on-site leadership and management for construction projects. This position serves as the Company’s representative and primary point of contact on the jobsite, working directly with Project Managers, clients, inspectors, subcontractors, and field employees to coordinate daily operations. The Pipe Superintendent plans, schedules, and supervises onsite activities including material control, crew direction, and project communication to help ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to project requirements.
This role requires a self-motivated individual who can use their knowledge and leadership skills to contribute to the success of the company while maintaining a positive and professional presence in the field. The Pipe Superintendent must also interact with residents and members of the public in a courteous and respectful manner, including addressing concerns related to schedules, grades, and quality of service, documenting complaints as needed, and responding appropriately. A valid driver’s license is required, and Granite Excavation maintains a drug-free work environment.

Summary: Granite Excavation is seeking an experienced Pipe Superintendent to provide on-site leadership and supervision for underground utility projects. This position works directly with Project Managers, field crews, subcontractors, inspectors, and customers to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to plans and specifications. The Pipe Superintendent must be a positive representative of Granite Excavation and maintain professional communication with customers, residents, and the public.
Primary responsibilities
- Supervise pipe crews and underground utility work related to water, sewer, and storm systems.
- Coordinate daily field operations with Project Managers, Foremen, Inspectors, Subcontractors, and Customers.
- Read and interpret plans and specifications to ensure work is completed to required standards.
- Oversee jobsite safety, crew productivity, scheduling, and quality of work.
- Manage crews, equipment, and materials to help keep projects on schedule and within budget.
- Maintain professional communication and represent the company positively in the field.
